Hyaluronic acid. *ACID* It may sound like something you don't want to put near your face, but it holds the key to smooth and hydrated skin.

Our body naturally produces this jelly like substance to maintain our skin moisturized. You can also find it in connective tissue and eyes where acts like a lubricating agent. But due to aging and environmental factors the levels of HA (Hyaluronic acid) can get quite low. This can cause dullness, fine lines and uneven tone.

Topically applied helps to hydrate the skin and maintain the hydration by absorbing the moisture and water from the air. It binds water to collagen, trapping it in the skin.

FUN FACT: One gram of hyaluronic acid can hold up to 6 LITERS of water. Mind-blowing right?

If Hyaluronic acid isn't yet part of your skincare routine, here are some reasons why it should be:

1. When skin is hydrated, lines and wrinkles (even the deeper ones) appear diminished, so it is a great ingredient for those with aging skin (a.k.a. everybody).

2. Hyaluronic Acid works for any skin type, even sensitive or breakout-prone skin.

3. Recent research suggests that HA also has antioxidant properties, which means it can act like a shield against free radicals, like pollution and other aggressors.

4. Other then keeping your skin firm, it can help reduce dermatitis and redness.

5. Plays a key role in wound healing by regulating inflammation levels and signaling the body to build more blood vessels in the damaged area.

Is Hyaluronic acid safe?

YES! Don't let the name confuse or discourage you.

You can find HA in different types of products:

Hyaluronic acid is not a trend, in fact is one of the best skincare ingredients you can use!
