We all know that, no meter how good the artist is, if your skincare game is not on point, the make-up won't look as good as it could (unless you have insane genetics).
Here are some skincare mistakes one should avoid if she (or he) desires to have a flawless makeup look and a healthy, glowy skin.

1. GOING TO BED WITH YOUR MAKEUP ON
Yes, I know.. you can be forgiven for that one night you came home after that crazy party and fall into bad wearing makeup, but that doesn't mean this should be a habit. Makeup can clog your pores and make them appear larger. In addition sleeping with eyeshadow or eyeliner can cause eye infections.
2. OVER EXFOLIATING
It can be highly damaging in the long therm if you're exfoliating your skin too often. You could seriously harm the surface layer of the skin by removing the protective barrier. Choose chemical exfoliators like BHAs and AHAs. Although they have the word ''acid'' in the name, they can be much gentler on your skin in comparison with mechanical exfoliators that are far more abrasive.
3. OVER DRYING YOUR SKIN
Having an oily or acne prone skin doesn't mean you need to dry it out completely. When your skin is dry (in case of an oily skin type) it will actually start producing even more oil and in case of acne the irritation can get worse. So stop using that alcohol packed toner and try maybe something with chamomile extract that will calm the irritation and hyaluronic acid which can restore the hydration levels.
4. NOT MOISTURIZING OILY SKIN
Another mistake you can make if you have and oily, combination or acne prone skin is not using moisturizers. Regardless of your skin type it is important that you use a (lighter) moisturizer during the day and a heavier cream at night. In fact, it’s vital that even oily skin gets moisture because without it, the skin will overcompensate for the loss of hydration by producing more oil, which can lead to breakouts and an uneven skin texture.
5. NEGLECTING YOUR NECK
One of the biggest giveaways of a person’s age is their neck, and yet so many of us neglect it. You should continue your entire skincare regime all the way down to your collar bone. That includes cleansers, exfoliators, toners, serums and moisturizers. But be gentle as the skin is very sensitive. Always use upwards motions.
6. TAKING TOO HOT SHOWERS
This can be very tempting especially during the winter months, but it can be quite problematic for your skin. Hot showers can strip your skin of essential moisture and healthy oils leaving your skin barrier damaged and your skin unprotected.
